Challenger's Tracked Mammoth brings traffic to a stop in Hobart's CBD
Traffic slowed to a crawl outside Hobart’s Grand Chancellor this week, due to an unusual commuter in the CBD. A Challenger MT865B rubber tracked tractor was parked on the hotel forecourt causing a traffic bottleneck as locals strained their necks for a look at the tracked mammoth. The Challenger MT865B is here for the International Antarctic Conference this week. At over 500 horsepower and with a maximum weight of 27 tonnes, this is no toy for your kid’s sandpit.

The world seeding record has fallen, with a stunning 571.9 ha of
crop planted in just 24 hours.
Powered by the top of the range 373 kW (500 hp) Challenger MT865
tracked tractor, the record breaking team drilled the seed and fertiliser
for a spring barley crop in Ukraine at the average rate of 24.3
ha an hour – that’s 60 acres in the old language.
